Eetu Sipilä (FI)
Eetu Sipilä is a fencer, instructor and an active competitor in HEMA, representing EHMS Finland. A seasoned swordsman who over his lifetime has trained on more than half of his days, he studies fencing from its essential biomechanics to the nuances of its phenomenology. With a strong sports fencing background padded with years of training and competing in various fencing arts, he specialises in analysis and composition. He strongly believes in the universal truth of fencing, and that the primary virtue of a fencer is Love.
Heart and Speed
In the Heart and Speed workshop we will go through all the important components of building focus and speed, two strongly interconnected concepts. As speed without focus is misdirected effort, and focus without speed is being buried alive, we will look to harmonise the two. With simple and applicable concepts we will build our understanding of these foundational aspects to a new level, and will make us flourish as fencers both in training and in competition. Over the course of the workshop we will gear up gradually to full gear, but one is welcome to attend without equipment just as well if one is happy to make it light or simply observe.
